| Without a doubt, Dr. Dolittle. This is an important work by a mature artist, wonderful voice, musical arrangements both smashing and lovely! It's something so different from the rest of Darin's output, I think his record producer simply didn't know what to make of it, and so this great album did not get the promotion it deserved. As far as I know, Darin never complained, he just kept turning out the music. |

Great choice. And I suspect you're right--Atlantic had no clue what to do with this record. I think they got stuck on the title, and didn't take time to listen to the songs themselves. Roger Kellaway's arrangements are incredible, so creative, original, and moving. Bobby lays down some of his most emotionally effective vocals. It really needs to be looked at again, and understood to be what it is--a work of great emotional depth and musical beauty.

Yeah, Ahmet was a pretty hip guy, but that was one situation where he just didn't get it. I imagine in private he said something more like "that @@#%$# animal album!"
;D

| Well, in this instance, Darin was right, and Ahmet was simply wrong. |
